Frequently asked questions on the subject: Precision turned parts

What are precision turned parts and what are they used for?

Precision turned parts are components that are manufactured with the highest accuracy by turning. They are used in numerous industries, such as mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, medical technology and aerospace. Their high precision makes them ideal for applications where low tolerances are required.

Typical products are shafts, axles or bushes. Precision turned parts are manufactured from various materials such as steel, aluminum or plastic. Their dimensionally accurate production ensures that they can be perfectly integrated into complex systems.

What are the advantages of CNC-manufactured precision turned parts?

CNC-manufactured precision turned parts are characterized by their consistently high precision and reproducibility. Computer-controlled machines allow even complicated shapes and the smallest tolerances to be produced at high speed.

This technology enables the economical production of both individual parts and large series. Further advantages are the flexible adaptation of production to specific customer requirements and the efficiency of production. In addition, the error rate is significantly reduced compared to manual processes.

How are precision turned parts manufactured according to customer specifications?

Precision turned parts are manufactured on the basis of precise customer drawings and specifications. The process begins with the selection of a suitable material that meets the requirements of the end product. CNC machines are then used to turn, mill or drill the components with the utmost precision. Depending on requirements, different tolerance specifications can be adhered to. After production, the parts are often subjected to quality control to ensure that they meet the customer's requirements. Each precision turned part is thus individually adapted to the respective application.

What tolerances are common for precision turned parts?

Precision turned parts can be manufactured to very tight tolerances, often in the range of a few micrometers. Depending on the requirements of the component and the industry, tolerances can range from ±0.005 mm to ±0.01 mm. Such tight tolerances are particularly important in medical technology or for critical machine parts. The high accuracy is achieved through the use of modern CNC machines and precise control. This makes it possible to produce both small and large components with consistent quality.

Which materials are suitable for the production of precision turned parts?

Materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum and various plastics are often used for the production of precision turned parts. Each material offers different properties, depending on the requirements placed on the end product.

Stainless steel, for example, is corrosion-resistant and is often used in medical technology or in chemical environments.
Aluminum, on the other hand, is lightweight and is well suited for applications in the automotive or aviation sectors. Special alloys or high-strength plastics are also used when special requirements are placed on strength or temperature resistance.

Quality at every stage of production

We guarantee our customers first-class products and absolute precision. Customer requirements guide our actions and our decisions. We do a lot to achieve this:

  • in-process inspections by qualified employees
  • Use of highly developed measuring technology, e.g. 3D measuring machines, contour measuring devices, profile scanners, form measuring machines
  • 100% inspection of high-volume parts for freedom from chips and important dimensions such as length, inner and outer diameter

Our ISO certification ensures the consistently high standard of our quality management. We work in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016. We have been certified in accordance with the environmental standard DIN EN ISO 14001 and the energy standard DIN EN ISO 50001 since 2018.
